Administrative Overview
The Government of Uganda, through the NEPB, seeks to enhance water resource management, reduce non-revenue water, and improve billing efficiency through the adoption of smart water metering technologies. In pursuit of this goal, the government is engaging a qualified private contractor to supply and support the installation of smart water meters across residential, commercial, and industrial consumer segments.
The smart meters will utilize advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), including remote reading capabilities, real-time data transmission, leak detection, and tamper alerts. These technologies will contribute to improved water conservation, accurate billing, and reduced operational costs.
This initiative supports Uganda’s Vision 2040 and aligns with the National Development Plan (NDP III) by fostering digital transformation and improved service delivery in the water sector.
