Administrative Overview
The Government of Uganda, through NEPB, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), is committed to modernizing agriculture as a critical pillar of economic development, job creation, and food security. In line with this vision, the government has partnered with a private contractor to supply agricultural tractors and essential mechanization equipment for large-scale farmers across the country.
This initiative supports Uganda’s National Development Plan (NDP III) and Vision 2040, aiming to transition from subsistence to commercial agriculture. The contractor will be responsible for the supply, delivery, basic training, and after-sales service of high-performance tractors designed for Ugandan agricultural conditions. Distribution will be prioritized for farmers with large farms who have demonstrated capacity to engage in high-yield, market-oriented agriculture.
The project emphasizes sustainability, value chain efficiency, and mechanization as tools to enhance productivity, reduce labor costs, and improve national food self-sufficiency.
